In June 2002 I approached BIBIC (British Institute for Brain Injured Children) for help and treatment for Kye Kye. I embarked on a programme of holistic therapy and Kye Kye was given a new programme, new dietary plan and therapeutic input. This was a very intensive programme and very beneficial to Raquaya. We still follow it today as best as possible.

It was then that the first intense session of fund raising began, and The Kye Kye Hope Trust entered the public eye. The money was to be used to enable us to purchase specialist equipment that was needed for the basic day to day care of Raquaya. We also hoped to take Kye Kye to a therapy centre in Florida which had a good reputation for helping those with acquired brain injuries. Unfortunately we were not able to reach this goal.

After further research I soon discovered a centre in Cuba for Neurological Restoration. I discovered that Cuba is one of the world leaders for medical intervention, especially rehabilitation techniques. Therefore, despite questions being asked of me (especially by UK medics), and a few initial reservations, it soon became our goal to get Kye Kye to Cuba.
