The Kye Kye Hope Trust is a non-profit making organisation, which was set up when my then 8-month old daughter's life was changed when Encephalitis took over. Kye Kye had joined the thousands of other special children in our society and all over the world who have been severely let down by the lack of available resources and facilities needed to help in the crucial rehabilitation which could lead to a better quality of life.

Encephalitis is the inflammation/swelling of the brain. This is caused by either a direct viral attack on the brain or as a result of a virus present elsewhere in the body. The effects include drowsiness, confusion and in more serious cases seizures (fits), inability to speak or control movement sensory changes and coma.

The aim of the Trust is to raise funds to further Kye Kye's rehabilitation which will enable her to lead a better quality of life as she grows. Without this, Kye Kye may never reach her full potential or be able to do most of the simple things in life that you and I may take for granted, such as eat with utensils, sit up to read or watch TV, see and admire her own environment, friends and family, or write a letter, or a short story, or even her own name.

The kind of care and rehabilitation that Kye Kye needs is very costly, and without the help and support of the community it may come too late for her, if ever at all. This is a crucial time, when Kye Kye's young age, ability and willingness to learn will help her to achieve her full potential.

Such is the need for a service for children like Kye Kye(especially those from 0-2 years), that this Trust has been set up with the hope and intention that it will be able to help other families and carers who, like myself, have a limited amount of resources. The aim is to support and advise families or carers who have had their lives changed after Encephalitis.

This will only be possible with your help and support. We hope that this humble effort will not only help Kye Kye, but other children like her. Remember, NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!
